Events celebrating the Charles Worth 200th Anniversary took place in Bourne at the weekend which included talks, workshops, displays, and activities for all ages. Grace, from Year 5, was excited to see her designs completed at school on display in the Red Hall.
Pupils at Mrs Lawson’s Fashion club created mood boards for the Spring/Summer collections of 2025. Pupils used their own interests and selected colour palettes to create a design for a hat, jacket, dress or outfit. The children produced a range of designs using recycled fabrics and magazine images to collage their ideas.

The display below includes the work completed by our Year 5 class who were introduced to the fashion technique popularised in the 70’s, creating tie dye patterns on fabric.

Rags to Riches Dress
Children from Thurlby Academy and Bourne Westfield Primary Academy created rag flowers using recycled fabric scraps which were then added to the ‘Rags to Riches’ dress below. This was to celebrate the creative use of embellishments used in Worth’s garments and his love of nature.
