Administrative Assistant 

Salary G3:6  £18,065 pa (pro-rata)

Required for September. 10 hours per week. 8:45am-10:45am daily (term time only). Thurlby Community Primary Academy is a friendly village school that is part of Keystone Academy Trust. You will join a small, hardworking office team that ensures that Thurlby Academy continues to provide a warm and helpful welcome to all of our children, parents and visitors.

 1. Responsibility for assisting in the smooth running of the school office, including:

  • Liaising with the Office Manager relating to work to be undertaken by the office
  • Maintenance of the attendance registers and first day absence phone calls
  • General word processing
  • Placing of orders/purchasing of goods/resources and stock room management

2. Assisting in the maintenance of the various school computerised databases of pupil and staff information,

including:

  • Maintaining the school’s database of pupil attendance records, liaising with teachers
  • Providing assistance with other information databases during the busiest times of the year
  • Required to carry out all reasonable duties and responsibilities of the post in accordance with the Trust’s policies and procedures and standing orders.
  • Enactment of Health and Safety requirements and initiatives as appropriate
  • All employees are required to declare any conflict of interest that may arise before or during their employment.
  • Any outside activities, either paid or unpaid, must not in the view of the school conflict with or react detrimentally to the Trust’s interest, or in any way weaken public confidence in the conduct of the Academy’s business.

General Statements

  • Undergo and meet school conditions for a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
  • Must comply with all equality legislation, policies and procedures; actively promote ways of eradicating and challenging racism, prejudice and discrimination through the school’s policies and procedures.
  • To have due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and to follow the child protection procedures adopted by the Southwark Safeguarding Children Board.
  • Being aware of responsibilities under the Data Protection act for the security, accuracy and relevance of information held and maintained.
  • Treating all information acquired through your employment, both formally and informally, in strict confidence
  • To demonstrate a commitment to good customer care.
  • Any other duties of an appropriate level and nature will also be required.
  • Participating in training to be able to demonstrate competence.
  • Participating in first aid training as required.
  • Participating in the ongoing development, implementation and monitoring of the service plans.
  • Contributing in meetings and being a supportive member of the school team.

Senior Lunch Supervisor - Grade 3 Point 6 (£18,065 pa pro rata)

Required for September, 7.5 hours per week, 38 weeks

We are looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Senior Lunchtime Supervisor to lead our team of Lunchtime Supervisors.  The successful candidate will be responsible for:

- the supervision of children at lunch times, helping to create a positive atmosphere in the school hall and on the playgrounds

- a team of 5 lunchtime supervisors

- liaising between lunchtime supervisors, teaching staff and the senior leadership team to ensure the smooth running of the lunchtime

- helping to prepare the hall and tidy away equipment after lunch with your team

- managing staff rotas; staff reviews and meetings; logging accident report forms; arranging cover for staff absences

The successful candidate will have:

- experience of working with primary age children, including those who may have additional needs

- the ability to engage with, and inspire, young children in play

- the ability to make decisions, according to situations

- a good sense of humour!
