Thurlby Community Primary Academy is a mixed infant and junior school, for children aged between 4 and 11 years from the village of Thurlby and surrounding areas. Over recent years the school has had an average of 200 pupils on roll.

  • These staggered starts are essential to avoid congestion, in and around school, and to ensure that your children can all enter the school as quickly and safely as possible. Please be assured that we will regularly review the arrangements and amend if necessary
  • Arrive within the allocated time and go straight to drop off and pick up
  • If siblings have different drop off times, go to the earliest class first then straight to the next class
  • Please leave the site immediately after drop off and pick up

NORMAL SCHOOL SESSION TIMES (i.e. before COVID regulations)
Teachers are on duty from 08.50am and children should not arrive at school before this time. Please ensure that suitable arrangements are in place for your child’s departure from school.

Session times are:

Reception, Year 1 & Year 2:-    

9.00am to 12.15pm
1.10pm to 3.00pm

Year 3 – Year 6:-

9.00am to 12.15pm
1.10pm to 3.15pm

The weekly hours of instruction are 21 hours 20 minutes for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, and 23 hours 50 minutes for Year 3 – Year 6. This includes religious education, but excludes the statutory daily act of collective worship, registration and breaks (including lunch).

The children have morning breaks and may bring a healthy snack to eat during morning playtime. As part of our Healthy Schools Initiative a piece of fruit is provided for children in Foundation and Key Stage 1. Milk is provided free for the under 5’s, and is available to purchase for all other children.

Lunch is from 12.15 to 1.10pm. Hot school meals are available to all children and are pre-ordered on-line. Alternatively, children may bring their own packed lunch. In the interest of safety the school does not permit hot drinks.  All children take lunch in the hall, under the supervision of school meals staff.
