All classes have participated in an array of activities this week to celebrate ‘Our Wonderful World’. The children have been investigating the environment in and around school to develop their fieldwork skills. Children in Reception and Year 1 created maps of the school and collected natural objects on their chosen routes. Years 2 and 3 went out into Thurlby to complete traffic surveys whilst years 4 and 6 used data loggers to discover which were the loudest and quietest parts of Thurlby. Year 5 linked their fieldwork to their learning in history as they have been learning about the changes in land use. Using digital photography, the children took comparative photographs of the places around Thurlby and compared them to photographs from the early 1900s.
Our artwork has also been centred around nature with year 5 learning the skill of quilling, year 4 and year 2 studying the artists Richard Long and Andy Goldsworthy whilst other classes also created wonderful pieces of art. Look out on our Facebook page for more photographs over the weekend!
