Year 2 - Forest School

Published: 6th June 2024

Year 2 had a super start to Forest School. To link with our history learning about the Great Fire of London, they learnt about what fire needs to burn and discussed how to keep safe near fire. They took turns using flint and steel and Rowena was so impressed with how determined the children were- lots of them managed to create sparks. Rowena demonstrated how to build a campfire and then the children had the opportunity to toast and eat rather sticky marshmallows. Once the fire was extinguished and the burnt wood had cooled, the children used the charcoal to draw nature inspired pictures and patterns on the paving slabs.
