To mark the conclusion of their studies of WWII and to mark the impending festive season, Year 6 held a VE Day Party this week. The children were invited to wear dress appropriate to 1945 and a myriad of wonderful unforms, refugees and other organisations they had studied was the result. After hearing Churchill announce the end of the war, they spent the day, amongst many other activities appropriate to May 1945, preparing bunting and decorations plus learning about and practising code-breaking, playing games of the time and baking an 'Eggless Sponge' from the wartime recipe. All with 'buffet' breaks with food they had generously brought in to snack on. Hungry work winning the War!
