Young Voices - January 2020

Published: 8th January 2020

One AMAZING day – 20 AMAZING children!

On Wednesday, our Young Voices choir, made up of 20 children from Years 4, 5 and 6 travelled to Sheffield to take part in Thurlby’s first Young Voices concert.  We rehearsed all afternoon and then, in the evening, we performed with over 5,000 other children to an audience of 100s of parents.  By this time, we all had our YV 2020 t-shirts on and wristband torches, all helping to make this a magical and truly memorable occasion.  The children (and staff) enjoyed all of the songs, having spent many lunch times rehearsing them – from Shiny Happy People to Ghostbusters and a Queen medley finale.

We were also treated to some celebrity guest appearances – Tony Hadley, Rut and The Shires.  It was a long day as we returned at 11.30 pm (on a school night!), but well worth it for the unforgettable experience for all involved.   I have to say that the Thurlby children were absolutely brilliant. I am so proud of them all for their excellent behaviour throughout the day and their excitement and enthusiasm during the concert.  The looks on their faces said it all.  Thank you too to all the parents who were able to come along and watch the performance – your support was much appreciated.  WELL DONE THURLBY YV 2020!
